Busyness & Stresses

Well, I had class last night and was not able to post in the time between being a teacher and being a student. I've fallen from my goal of blogging every night, but I'm going to pick myself up and dust myself off!

Life has been quite busy & stressful lately. I may not have mentioned it before, but not only is finals coming next week, graduation is next Friday, I'm trying to get all my pieces together for my portfolio, trying to teach, get end-year assessments completed, be a wife and mother...whew! As if all of that is not enough, we are also moving into a new place! I'm going to be so used to juggling all of these roles that I'm not going to know what to do with myself this summer!

That's it for now. Four o'clock in the morning comes very early! Tomorrow our kids are participating in our 2nd annual Fun to be Fit race...with a 100% chance of a soaking rain! The race occurs rain or shine, so I'll share about that adventure tomorrow. Until then have a wonderful evening blogger friends. Thanks for sharing in my adventures!

Personal Blog Challenge-Day 1

Today I begin the challenge that I set forth for myself yesterday...to blog every day until summer vacation starts on June 13th. Today I'll be discussing some upcoming assignments and the sneaky "fun" activities that are occurring in my classroom in my honor!

ASSIGNMENTS

I'm so not reluctantly working on a presentation about assessment and accountability, as well as developing my personal plan for professional development and my family/community plan, both of which are for my portfolio. My problem is that I have a bad case of senioritis! Right now I'm focusing on my presentation. Did I mention it is due tomorrow?!? The assessment I have chosen to discuss with my fellow classmates is a piece on STAR Reader Tests. Have any of you heard of it/used it? We use this in my 2nd grade classroom. I'm going to discuss the pros & cons of this assessment and how it drives my instruction. I know, fascinating stuff, right!

SNEAKY "FUN" ACTIVITIES

My supervising teacher has decided to create a bunch of surprises for me. She's not so good at keeping secrets though, so I already know about quite a few of them! She has one surprise planned thought that is for the last day of school with my kiddos and it focuses on me! She has managed to keep this a secret & has involved the kids too. They've done amazingly well in keeping the secret from me so far. I'm really excited!

Well, I'm taking a break from one of my evening classes right now, and it's time to go back. I'll chat with you all again tomorrow. Thanks for following and taking the time to come along with me on my adventures!

Absenteeism :-(

Hello my blogger friends! I have been such an awful blogger! I apologize to all my followers for my absenteeism.

I promise to do better. In fact, it is my goal to blog everyday until June 13. That is the day that starts our summer vacation! Between now and then I have 10 days left with my kiddos AND graduation (mine of course) to get through! My mantra right now is "I think I can, I think I can!"

Wish me luck blogger friends! I will chat with you all again tomorrow. Thanks for stopping by and following my adventures!

And the Adventure Continues...With a Teacher Appreciation Link-Up!

Wow blogger friends! I know I've been absent from my blog for the past two weeks. What a crazy two weeks it's been!

Landform Presentations

My kiddos completed their landforms PowerPoint presentations and presented them to our Principal, Superintendent, and my college coordinator. They did an AMAZING job! I'm so proud of them. They know how to use Google Docs to create slides, how to find information and pictures on the internet, how to copy & paste that information, and how to site their sources...and they're only in 2nd grade! Now we're beginning a WebQuest on the Water Cycle (I found this through a search) and my kiddos are excited to learn how to make a Prezi and a SAM (Stop Animation Movie). I'm excited to teach them how to do this too! I cannot wait to see what they come up with.

Teacher Appreciation Link-Up

I've heard from some blogs that I follow that there is to be a MAJOR FREEBIE event on Sunday, May 6th. Check out one of the links from A Modern Teacher by clicking on the picture link below.

iPad

With graduation looming so very soon :-), my family pitched in and purchased an iPad 2 for me! I'm quickly learning how to use this new (to me) piece of technology in the classroom. I attended The Mobile Learning Conference last Friday and learned so much! I'm so excited to try some of these new ideas with my kiddos!

Well friends, that's all I have for now. My kiddos will be arriving at school soon, so I must prepare. I'm looking forward to a Friday edition of Fun Friday Freebies!

Thanks again for following. I'm enjoying the blog-o-verse so very much!
