Fishy Friday

READING MONTH

Our reading month theme is oceans/beach. The reading month committee had The Ocean Guy come to our school and give a presentation about ocean life & habitats, ships, ocean and lake depths, and more! The children had a GREAT time! Here's a few pictures of the assembly.
The Ocean Guy describing the types of water on Earth.

The Ocean Guy showing a model of a ocean freighter. He's telling the children how a model of the Titanic would be that much longer than his model.

The boy in this picture is my son. He was able to walk around holding the head of the polar bear while other students held the body. He kept saying "This is heavier than it looks!".

The kids LOVED it when he blew on the conch shell!

FEEDBACK

I received some great feedback today. Not that I want to toot my own horn, but we had an outside visitor come to our room to observe our Daily 5 centers and our Everyday Math lessons, both of which are new to our building this year. I was able to describe the Words Their Way lessons we use during our Daily 5, and she was able to see the math lesson I taught. She told my cooperating teacher that I was a gem, and they shouldn't let me go! That acknowledgement made me feel really good! Just had to share my success with you all.

That's it for now, thank you all for visiting. One more week to get through until Spring Break!

Until next time,
~Sandy
